On July 4, 2022, St. Thomas More parish welcomed its new pastor, Rev. Samuel Fontana! Fr. Fontana comes to us from St. Joseph Seminary College (St. Ben's) in St. Benedict, Louisiana, where he served as the Dean of Students, teacher, and Division Chair, among his other duties. Fr. Fontana was raised in St. Pius X Parish in Lafayette. He entered seminary formation at St. Ben's in Fall 2005. At the end of his sophomore year, he transferred to the Catholic University of America, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy in 2009 and Licentiate in Philosophy in 2010. He then began theological studies at Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Maryland, where he received his Bachelor of Sacred Theology degree and Master of Divinity degree. In the summer of 2014, Fr. Fontana was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Lafayette and was assigned as associate pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Rayne. In 2017, he accepted a position at St. Ben's, where he served until his assignment to St. Thomas More parish. Welcome to STM, Fr. Fontana! |
