COME MARINATE IN THE WORD!
The Jubilee of the Word Marathon - 100 Hours for 100 Years is an extraordinary and unique way to celebrate the Centennial of the Diocese of Lafayette! Beginning on Wednesday, April 4th at 12:30 PM the Bible will be read publicly cover to cover without pause in the Square of St. Martinville. The Marathon will conclude on Divine Mercy Sunday at 4:30 PM. Bishop Douglas Deshotel will begin the reading from the first chapters of Genesis and Bishop Michael Jarrell will conclude with the closing chapters of the Book of Revelation. Over 300 lectors will be needed for 20 minute intervals. Lectors from churches from throughout Acadiana and others interested in reading are encouraged to sign up for a reading slot during the Marathon. 2018 Marks the Centennial Year of the Diocese of Lafayette
The Diocese of Lafayette celebrates its 100th year in 2018 and will host many Centennial events to commemorate this milestone. The Opening Mass for the Centennial Year is January 11, 2018 at 6:30 pm at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville. Everyone is invited to attend.
The Centennial Pro-Life Mass at St. Pius X will be on January 19th at 7:00 pm (for free seat ticket, please call the Office of Pro-Life Activities at 337-261-5607). The Centennial Pro-Life March will be on January 20th from 9:30 to 11:30 am; Rally Praise & Worship at ULL Quad, 11:30am-12:30pm; Pro-Life March from ULL Quad to Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 12:30-1:30pm; Welcome by Bishop Deshotel and a Prayer Service with Benediction. Later that evening will be a Pro-life Rose Dinner on January 20th at 6:00pm at the Petroleum Club (a ticketed event - for information please call the Office of Pro Life activities at 337-261-5607).

DIOCESE OF LAFAYETTE CENTENNIAL PILGRIMAGE TO CANADA
Join Bishop J. Douglas Deshotel on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 6:30 pm at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Lafayette to find out how you can join him for the Diocese of Lafayette Centennial Pilgrimage to Canada. Bishop Deshotel will lead the Pilgrimage, which is scheduled for August 27-September 5, 2018, and which will include stops in Montreal, Quebec City, and Nova Scotia, including a visit to Grand Pre, the site of the famous AcadianSettlement. Our informational meeting is being held now to allow prospective pilgrims a chance to participate in an extended payment plan to help make the journey more affordable, and special discounts will be available to those who sign up early. The meeting will take place in Knight Hall Auditorium behind Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2319 Johnston Street in Lafayette. Co-leaders of the Centennial Pilgrimage, Fr. Cedric Sonnier and Fr. Paul Broussard, will be on hand to answer questions, along with tour leaders from Magnificat Travel, our experienced guides for this historic journey. Survivor of Suicide Support Group
The death of a loved one is never easy and grief is experienced differently for everyone. The Jacob Crouch Suicide Prevention Services and the Office of Marriage and Family Life have formed a support group especially tailored for survivors of suicide. This group provides a safe place for those who have lost a loved one to suicide to share their struggles, experiences, and pain as they struggle to regain hope and strength. The group is facilitated by a licensed counselor and is open to all survivors of suicide over the age of 18 and meets on two evenings a month.
